5 EASY TIPS TO LOOK LIKE A PUNJABI GUY

5 EASY TIPS TO LOOK LIKE A PUNJABI GUY

Pagdi

First and Foremost thing to look like Punjabi men is to wear turbans known as ‘Pugg’ or ‘Pagdi’. This Pagdi came into usage many years ago because, traditionally Punjabis do not cut their hair or shave as their religion does not permit them to do so. So to tie up their hair tightly they used turbans. However, with changing times, the modern Punjabis have given up these customs and dress and wear their hair just like others. The turbaned Sikh is commonly seen in most parts of the world because most of them do not sacrifice their Pagdi because it is a symbol of their religion and sign of honor or respect to their Guru. You can wear different colors of Turban as per your clothing.

Kurta

The customary costume for men in Punjab is Kurta Pyjama. You can find so many men wearing this clothing in different religion. The Kurta is a type of shirt which is straight-cut and long for comfortable movement. It is similar to a shirt but with long sleeves and no opening in the front. The Kurta is worn by pulling it over the head. Sometimes Kurta may have fastening with buttons. During winters they can be seen wearing bright colorful sweaters.

Pyjama

So we need not worry about Pyjamas because all are familiar with this type of clothing. The Pyjama is loose, baggy pants need to be tied at the waist, and falls downs and gathered at the ankles.

Tehmat

Oh!!  Wait you need not worry about what Tehmat is?? It’s nothing but Dhoti it is also called as Tamba or Laccha. Whereas the Tehmat is of one color and has no border, the Laccha has a border and is many hued that are it has more than one color.  You can also pair up Kurta with a Tehmat or Lungi which is a type of sarong. And one more interesting tip to look young and dynamic you can also pair up loose pants or slacks with a collared shirt or T-shirt.

Jutti

And the last one is pairing with traditional shoes called Jutti. It is a type of handcrafted footwear typically associated with the Punjabis. The Jutti has no left-foot or right-foot distinction and it take the shape of the feet over period of a time. Don’t worry about the jutti because now-a -days this type shoes are available in almost all metropolitan cities. The Jutti of a man differs from those women in its design. The One worn by men comes with the extended curve at the tip of the foot.
