India is a colorful land and Punjab is one of the traditionally rich states of this beautiful country. The Following are 5 Simple ways to look like a Punjabi Woman.

CHURIDAAR KURTA

 A popular comfortable and convenient dress worn by Punjabi women is Churidaar Kurta.  Kurta is long shirt semi fitted to the body which falls up to or below the knees with side slit usually with broad sleeves.Churidaar is tight fitted pant which is tied at the waist. This is traditional dress worn in Punjab, but is now worn everywhere, particularly among younger Women.
                                               

SALWAR KAMEEZ


Kameez (a type of girls shirt) is the top piece. Salwar is nothing but a loose and baggy pant (bottom piece). It falls up to and gathered at the ankle . You need not worry about Salwar, you can pair up the Kurta with any other loose pants like Patiyala or If you want to look fashionable you can also pair up with trendy jeans.


                  




DUPPATA


A Duppata is a piece of colorful rectangular fabric that women wear around their necks like a scarf.  Duppata comes in many colors. Draping of duppata follows many ways but if you want to look traditional then hang it from the head and remaining part on the shoulder. The women can also be seen wearing shawls adorned with the beautiful Phulkari shawls. Phulkari is nothing but flower work or embroidery commonly seen on shawls, Duppatas and Ghagra Choli

                




JUTTI


The traditional shoes called Jutti, is a type of handcrafted footwear typically associated with the Punjabis. The Jutti has no left-foot or right-foot distinction and it take the shape of the feet over period of a time. Don’t worry about the Jutti because now-a -days this type shoes are available in almost all metropolitan cities. The Jutti of a MAN differs from those women in its design. Women’s Jutti have extensive embroidery and embellishments.





 




GOLD JEWELRY AND OTHER TRADITIONAL ORNAMENTS

Another important thing is traditional ornamentation which most of the girls love to wear it. Punjabi women also like to wear their gold jewelry over their traditional dresses, especially on special occasions such as weddings or religious functions. They also use multi colored glass bangles, stunning necklaces, nose pins, large earrings, anklets, toe rings and other decorative ornaments. Yeah, don’t worry by seeing list of ornamentations you can pair up with any jewelry you have, like simple single bangle, heavy earrings and simple necklace and with matching or contrasting trinkets and rubber bands. Women are never seen without their kadhas, the traditional steel bangle which has a religious significance

Pagdi


First and Foremost thing to look like Punjabi men is to wear turbans known as ‘Pugg’ or ‘Pagdi’. This Pagdi came into usage many years ago because, traditionally Punjabis do not cut their hair or shave as their religion does not permit them to do so. So to tie up their hair tightly they used turbans. However, with changing times, the modern Punjabis have given up these customs and dress and wear their hair just like others. The turbaned Sikh is commonly seen in most parts of the world because most of them do not sacrifice their Pagdi because it is a symbol of their religion and sign of honor or respect to their Guru. You can wear different colors of Turban as per your clothing.


                 
Kurta

The customary costume for men in Punjab is Kurta Pyjama. You can find so many men wearing this clothing in different religion. The Kurta is a type of shirt which is straight-cut and long for comfortable movement. It is similar to a shirt but with long sleeves and no opening in the front. The Kurta is worn by pulling it over the head. Sometimes Kurta may have fastening with buttons. During winters they can be seen wearing bright colorful sweaters. 
 

Pyjama

So we need not worry about Pyjamas because all are familiar with this type of clothing. The Pyjama is loose, baggy pants need to be tied at the waist, and falls downs and gathered at the ankles.
  

Tehmat 

Oh!!  Wait you need not worry about what Tehmat is?? It’s nothing but Dhoti it is also called as Tamba or Laccha. Whereas the Tehmat is of one color and has no border, the Laccha has a border and is many hued that are it has more than one color.  You can also pair up Kurta with a Tehmat or Lungi which is a type of sarong. And one more interesting tip to look young and dynamic you can also pair up loose pants or slacks with a collared shirt or T-shirt.


















Jutti

And the last one is pairing with traditional shoes called Jutti. It is a type of handcrafted footwear typically associated with the Punjabis. The Jutti has no left-foot or right-foot distinction and it take the shape of the feet over period of a time. Don’t worry about the jutti because now-a -days this type shoes are available in almost all metropolitan cities. The Jutti of a man differs from those women in its design. The One worn by men comes with the extended curve at the tip of the foot.

5 AMAZING THINGS YOU MUST KNOW ABOUT JAMMU AND KASHMIR CLOTHING


Jammu and Kashmir is one of the most beautiful destinations of India. Bordering China, Pakistan and Afghanistan, it is evident to see a diversified culture and religion in this place. The ethnic groups of Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam a major role in enriching the culture of Jammu and Kashmir. There are many other things about this beautiful land to talk about; the people of Kashmir are famous in the world for their traditions, customs and hospitality

                


1)   KASHMIRI WOMEN CLOTHING

The Pheran is the prominent attire for Kashmiri women. The Pheran worn by the woman usually has Zari, embroidery on the hem line, around pockets and mostly on the collar area. Ladies prefer suit and Burgha in summer and Pheran is preferred in autumn. The Hindus women of Kashmir wear Pheran. Now-a-days, Hindu women started wearing Saree, but as per culture and tradition of Kashmir region they have to wear Taranga on marriage day. The Pheran worn by the Muslim women are traditionally characterized by their broad sleeves which reach up to the knees Along with the white turban tied on the skull cap, a close fitting trouser and a lace less shoes called Gughabi. Highlighting zari embroideries or floral pockets around the neck-line is the prominent feature of Muslim women Pheran. They wear head- gears that look different from Taranga. Their Headgear are usually red in color, they tie it around the forehead like turban and they also use trinkets and small silver pins to tie tightly. Both Hindu as well as Muslims women,wrap Pherans tightly with a piece of crinkle cloth called Lunngi and Pashmina Shawl.  Clothing is same but fabric varies from season to season.

2) ETHNIC GROUP CLOTHING
Dogra:
Dogras  are tribes residing amidst the hilly area of Jammu. The Dogra womenfolk are found attired in fitted pajamas and tunics paired with a suitable head-dress. Similar fitted pajamas and kurtas of considerable length constitute the costume of the Dogra men. The use of kamarbunds and turban are prominent among the elderly people of Dogra.
Gujjars:
Gujjar community is the second-largest group of ethnic tribes inhabiting in Kashmir. The members of this tribe are mostly shepherds. Gujjar women are dressed in loose sleeved tunics coupled with baggy salwars. They cover their head by an elaborate headgear.

3)   LADAKH PEOPLE CLOTHING

In Ladakh the popular Ladakhi dress is Goncha, which is normally a thick woolen cloth paired with a brilliant belt, tied around the waist. The loose trousers are paired with Goncha as a dress by both men and the women with a slight variation in color and size. The most attractive feature is the colorful Kamar Bund. The other attractive component of the dress of a Ladakhi woman is “Peark”.  Peark   is actually a headgear prepared with the coating of black lamb decorated with turquoise stones that appears a cobra’s hood and tapering to a thin tail reaching down the back.

   4)   EMBROIDERY AND TANGLED DESIGNS
Costumes of Jammu and Kashmir are well known for their embroidery and tangled designs, which reflects the richness of culture and beauty of the region. Most of the garments are made of wool, silk designed with embroideries and cotton. This form of clothing is designed in such a way to tangle in extreme climate situations of the region.

   5)   PASHMINA SHAWLS

    Pashmina Shawls are the highest quality shawls crafted from very fine silk like fiber. A pure Pashmina Shawl can be identified by testing warmth and softness of the shawl and also by its color to some extent. The Pashmina Shawl has a natural cream color.
